Veteran Bengali Actor Soumitra Chatterjee Shifted To Intensive Care After Health Condition Worsened

Bengal’s most celebrated actor, Soumitra Chatterjee got hospitalised after his health condition deteriorated, as he had positive for Coronavirus last week. Now, the latest reports suggests that his health condition has been worsened and the doctors have advised his family to shift him to the ITU.

The Dadasaheb Phalke Awardee is 85-year-old and reportedly a team of 12 doctors have been attending the treatment. “Mr Chatterjee has been shifted to the ITU after he has been experiencing restlessness and reached an acute confusional stage. We have shifted him to the ITU for close monitoring. He is having several co-morbidities, that’s why we need to be more careful,” one of the doctors informed news agency, PTI.

The veteran actor was reportedly shooting for a documentary titled ‘Abhijan’, which is being helmed by actor Parambrata Chattopadhyay. He had attended the shoots at Bharatlaxmi Studio on October 1st and his next schedule was on October 7. However, he tested positive for the Coronavirus infection.

The veteran actor is known for his great contribution in Indian cinema. He has collaborated with legendary filmmakers such as Oscar-winner, Satyajit Ray. He was a part of several projects helmed by Ray. ‘Ashani Sanket’, ‘Ghare Baire’, ‘Aranyer Din Ratri’, ‘Charulata’ and few among others remain some of the best works of the legend.
