Diana Rigg, Star Of Avengers, Bond & Game of Thrones Passes Away

Actress Dame Diana Rigg, famous for roles in TV series The Avengers, as Olenna Tyrell in Game of Thrones, has passed away at the age of 82. The British actress lost her battle to cancer and passed away at her family home. Diana Rigg, died six months after being diagnosed with cancer. The news was confirmed by Diana’s daughter and agent.

My Beloved Ma died peacefully in her sleep early this morning, at home, surrounded by family,” her daughter Rachael Stirling said in a statement. “She died of cancer diagnosed in March, and spent her last months joyfully reflecting on her extraordinary life, full of love, laughter and a deep pride in her profession. I will miss her beyond words.”

Dame Diana’s agent said: “It is with tremendous sadness that we announce that Dame Diana Rigg died peacefully early this morning. She was at home with her family who have asked for privacy at this difficult time. Dame Diana was an icon of theatre, film, and television.”

Rigg was much beloved by Bond fans for her memorable performance as Tracy di Vicenzo in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. She is the woman who married James Bond played by George Lazenby. Diana Rigg, won Emmy, Tony and Bafta awards during her lengthy career.
