The Pakistan Cricket Board on Friday said that batsman Ahmed Shehzad has been handed a four-month suspension after he tested positive for a banned substance in May.
Shehzad had been slapped with a provisional suspension during the Pakistan Cup in July when his urine a sample of his urine was collected during the competition and the results of the tests were positive. The result was confirmed by an independent review in June.
Thus, his four-month suspension from international cricket is effective from July 10.
Shehzad however, has accepted his violation o the anti-doping rules but said that he didn’t have any intentions of enhancing his performance by using such substances.
Newly elected PCB chairman Ehsan Mani said, “PCB has a zero tolerance policy towards doping in cricket and hopes that in future cricketers will exercise utmost care to ensure that no prohibited substances enter their system.”
Shehzad might have deliver lectures on anti-doping if the PCB requires him to do so, which is as part of the process of rehabilitation.
Shehzad last represented Pakistan in June during their two-match T20I series in Scotland.
