Akshay Kumar starrer Bell Bottom may skip a theatrical release. Reportedly the makers are in discussion with Amazon Prime for direct release on OTT platform. It is common knowledge that Akshay Kumar was one of the first actors to release his film Laxmii on Hotstar. Looks like Bell Bottom too might follow suit.
As per a Bollywood Hungama report, Bell Bottom makers are in talks with Amazon Prime to explore the possibility of a digital release. Jackky Bhagnani and Vashu Bhagnani are discussing various prospects of the business venture. If they come to a mutual understanding then a digital release of Bell Bottom is possible. There might be some clarity about the same next month.
Earlier the movie was said to hit the theatres on April 2. But it seems unlikely now as Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi will be releasing around the same time. Therefore the producers have decided to opt for a digital release. All the stakeholders are currently working towards sealing the deal that is beneficial to all.
If the deal is sealed it is sure to hit the theatres owners and exhibitors who are already reeling under the COVID-19 lockdown. Akshay Kumar being a crowd puller would have benefited them well.
But there has been no official confirmation of the same as yet.
