Hollywood actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are finally single as a judge has granted them bifurcation on Friday, while they continue their divorce proceedings. Two days after being legally single Jolie has dropped her married name Angelina Jolie-Pitt yes she has cut ‘Pitt’ from her name and is now officially Angelina Jolie.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie who had tied the knot in 2014, had applied for divorce two years back and also requested for a bifurcation, which allows them to be legally single even before their divorce is finalized. The request was granted by a judge.
Speaking about the bifurcation a source spoke to the publication and said,”it was very important for the stars to emotionally break away from each other and begin their newly single lives, so the documents were fast-tracked with their private judge”.
The couple shares six children — Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 12, and 10-year-olds Vivienne and Knox.
Jolie has been fighting for sole custody of their children who will continue to use the hyphenated, Jolie-Pitt to their names.
In November 2018, the pair reached a temporary child custody agreement.
When Brad Pitt was asked about Jolie dropping Pitt from her name he says that he is relieved to have his name back and also feels it is a healing process for him including Jolie.
Brad Pitt was earlier married to Jennifer Aniston of FRIENDS fame. The couple had tied the knot in 2000 but after five years had divorced each other. Jennifer too had dropped Pitt from her name post the divorce.
