Asia Cup 2018: Virat Kohli mighty impressed with India’s performance

Asia Cup 2018: India cricket team captain Virat Kohli impressed with India’s performance after they defeated Pakistan by 9 wickets.

Stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma’s unbeaten 111 and Shikhar Dhawan’s 114 which helped India rout Pakistan by nine wickets in the Asia Cup Super Four match, captain Virat Kohli was mighty impressed. He used micro-blogging site Twitter to congratulate the Indian team. “Well done boys. What a joy to watch. Great win for us. Onwards and upwards #INDvPAK #AsiaCup2018”, he captioned.

In reply to Pakistan’s 237/7, India didn’t have any hiccup in reaching the target losing just one wicket and 10.3 overs to spare. Praise for the Indian team flew thick and fast which included former cricketers and experts, both on television and off it.

Captain Sharma was song from the very first delivery, but was once dropped by Imam-ul Haq at the cover. Thereafter he never looked back and guided India till the end and remained unbeaten on 111. This was India’s second successive win against the arch-rivals in the same tournament as India defeated the same opponent in their first match on September 19.

Yesterday’s match was one in which Rohit Sharma reached several milestones. By virtue of India’s nine-wicket win, Sharma became the first Indian captain to win first two matches against arch-rivals Pakistan. Secondly, Sharma’s tally of limited overs International (ODIs and T20) hundreds to 22, equalling another former India captain Sourav Ganguly, whose ODI tally of centuries is 22.

Also, this was Sharma’s third successive fifty in the tournament while Dhawan’s show is even better. In his last four matches, Dhawan scored 127, 46, 40 and 114.

Now, India will face Afghanistan on Tuesday at the same venue in their final Super Four clash.
