Asian Games: Deepak Kumar wins silver medal in Men’s 10m Air Rifle. This was India’s third medal in the competition this year and second in the shooting.

Ace Indian shooter Deepak Kumar bagged India’s first medal of the second day at the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta, when he bagged the silver medal in the Men’s 10m Air Rifle. This was India’s third medal in the competition this year and second in the shooting. This is also Kumar’s first medal at the Asian Games.

Kumar surpassed his fancied compatriot and favourite Ravi Kumar as he shot 247.7 to end up being the second best to Haoran Yang of China who won the gold with a record score of 249.1 at the JSC Shooting Range.

Shaochan Lu of Chinese Taipei clinched the bronze medal with a score of 226.8.

Deepak had defeated Lu in the third-place shoot-off with a score of 10.9 before shooting 10.8 to topple Ravi who shot 205.2. Ravi had earlier won a bronze medal with Apurvi Chandela in the air rifle mixed event.
