ATK to host Kerala Blasters FC in Indian Super League 2018-19 opener

The fifth edition of Indian Super League (ISL) will commence with a clash between the two-time champion ATK and Kerala Blasters in Kolkata on September 29, the federation announced on Saturday.

It will be followed by another mouth-watering south-Indian derby where last season’s runner-up Bengaluru FC will welcome defending champions Chenniayin FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru the next day.

The ISL also announced that the 2018-19 fixtures till mid-season break, featuring 12 rounds and 59 games.

It was also informed that the upcoming season will have three breaks, two for FIFA windows (8th -16th October 2018 / 12th – 20th November 2018), and one, starting from 17th December 2018 for the Indian national team’s preparatory camp ahead of the AFC Asian Cup in UAE.

Meanwhile, weekends (Saturday and Sunday) this season will no longer have double-headers while having a kick-off for all matches is at 7:30 pm (IST).
