The second wave of the deadly Coronavirus has hit India badly. In the last 24 hours, the country recorded 3,23,144 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the cumulative tally to 1,76,36,307. Amid this, on Tuesday, Australia announced a temporary ban on direct passenger flights from India following a massive surge in coronavirus.
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the suspension would remain till May 15. The decision was taken during a meeting of the Cabinet’s national security committee.
News agency ANI tweeted as: “Australia will suspend all direct passenger flights from India until May 15, says PM Scott Morrison.”

Morrison also stated that Australia will be sending medical aid, including oxygen tanks, ventilators, and personal protective equipment, to India as its health system strains under the growing caseload amid the Coronavirus pandemic.
Last week, Australia announced that they will be cutting the number of its citizens able to return from India and other red-zone countries to contain the risk of more virulent strains of COVID-19 spreading.
Thailand, Netherlands, Iran, Canada, UAE, UK, USA, Hong Kong have restricted entry of travelers from India in view of the coronavirus crisis.
