Avika Gor On Balika Vadhu: ‘I don’t know how much they will be able to connect now’

Avika Gor was just 8 years old when she started her career with the breakout role of child bride Anandi in popular show Balika Vadhu. The show is returning to TV after 12 years and Avika Gor is excited for the return of Balika Vadhu. However, the actor is unsure how much the show will connect with the next generation.

Talking to Hindustan Times, the actor said, “I don’t know what people like watching on TV these days so I don’t know how much they will be able to connect now. In 2008, the show had a social message and people loved the drama and the message.”

On the other hand, Anup Soni, who played father-in-law of Anandi on the show, recently shared that he had refused the role multiple times. In a recent Instagram live session, the actor revealed that he did not want to be part of the show. He also revealed that he had rejected the role thrice. The actor stated that he wanted a break in life at that point in time. In addition, the show, as well as the channel, were just starting out at the time and he did not want to take the risk.

However, it was his good friend Smita Bansal, who played his wife on the show, who ultimately convinced him to do the show. The actor shared that when Smita found out that he had rejected the role she called him personally to convince him to take the role. She told Anup that she did not want to be cast opposite an actor she did not know.
