Boney Kapoor reveals Ajay Devgn starrer Maidaan’s sets destroyed by recent cyclone

Cyclone Tauktae which went through the coastal areas of Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra and Gujarat has caused major destruction in around five states. Recently it was reported that Ranbir Kapoor’s Mumbai house was partially ruined due to the cyclone winds. According to the latest reports, it has also ruined Ajay Devgn starrer Maidaan’s sets which is located in Madh Island.

According to the reports, the crew had built the sets for Maidaan in the outskirts of Mumbai and Ajay Devgn was suppose to shoot a large part of the film in the location. However, due to the cyclone, the sets got destroyed to a point of complete ruining. Talking about the same Boney Kapoor informed Pinkvilla, “We had built an entire footfall stadium to shoot 8 matches in the final schedule. While we are done with 4 matches, the shoot was halted due to lockdown and now, the cyclone has destroyed our set. It’s unfortunate, but everyone is suffering in some way or another. Thankfully, there is no injury to human life.”

Reportedly, the makers of Maidaan had constructed a massive football stadium in Madh Island last year with the intention of shooting many scenes of the international matches. The same set was apparently dismantled after the lockdown was announced and they had all again built it by the end of 2020. However, it got destroyed amidst the gusty winds of the storm.

Maidana’s story is set in the backdrop of Football. It takes to the story of one of the finest Coaches who emerged from India, the one who puts India on the world map. Inspired by an incredible true story, it’s apparently a story about change and self belief.
