Tony Award-nominated actor Nick Cordero, passed away at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles. He was suffering severe medical complications after contracting the new coronavirus. Nick a Broadway star seen in shows as ‘Waitress,’ ‘A Bronx Tale’ and ‘Bullets Over Broadway was 41 year old.
His wife, Amanda Kloots, who has provided chronicle of his medical journey, confirmed his death on Instagram.
Amanda Kloots posted on Instagram. “. “God has another angel in heaven now. Nick was such a bright light. He was everyone’s friend, loved to listen, help and especially talk. He was an incredible actor and musician. He loved his family and loved being a father and husband.”
Cordero died after more than 90 days in the hospital. He entered the emergency room on March 30. Since then he has had a number of health setbacks, including mini-strokes, blood clots, a tracheostomy and a temporary pacemaker implanted. He had been on a ventilator and unconscious and also had his right leg amputated. A double lung transplant was being explored for him.
Cordero also appeared as Victor Lugo in the CBS drama Blue Bloods and appeared in the Zach Braff-directed Going in Style. He was last onstage in a Kennedy Center presentation of “Littler Shop of Horrors.”
A number of Broadway veterans have tested positive for Coronavirus. It has also claimed the life of Tony-winning playwright Terrence McNally.
