Chadwick Boseman’s character T’Challa won’t be recast in Black Panther 2

Disney announced the release date of Black Panther 2. The film written and directed by Ryan Coogler will premiere on July 8, 2022. Disney added that Marvel Studios will ‘explore the world of Wakanda and characters in Black Panther 2, but won’t recast T’Challa to honour Chadwick Boseman.

The news was confirmed by Marvel President Kevin Feige. Feige told in a Disney presentation for investors that Boseman’s performance as the proud Black leader of the fictional land of Wakanda was iconic. He added that Boseman will not be replaced.

The official Twitter handle of Disney announced, “Black Panther 2, opening July 8, 2022, is being written & directed by Ryan Coogler. Honoring Chadwick Boseman’s legacy & portrayal of T’Challa, @MarvelStudios will not recast the character, but will explore the world of Wakanda & the rich characters introduced in the first film (sic).”

Chadwick Boseman played Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His character was first introduced in 2016s Captain America: Civil War. The actor who grew quite popular as the Black Panther passed away due to colon cancer at the age of 43 in August 2020. Boseman passed away at his home in presence of his family members.

Boseman was diagnosed with colon cancer 4 years back but never shared the news with anyone. The news of his death left fans and friends in shock. Boseman’s last film, ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’ will release on December 18 on Netflix.
