My goal was better than Mohamed Salah’s: Cristiano Ronaldo on FIFA Puskas Award

Cristiano Ronaldo believes his overhead kick for Real Madrid against Juventus was better than Mohamed Salah’s goal that won FIFA goal of the year award

Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo believes his overhead kick from which he scored for Real Madrid against his current team Juventus last season was not only better than Mohamed Salah’s goal that eventually was voted the FIFA goal of the year award, but is the best goal.

Ronaldo, playing against his current club Juventus had scored from an acrobatic shot during the Champions League quarter-final encounter between Real and Juventus.

“Salah deserved to win the Puskas award, it was a good goal. But let’s be honest, let’s not lie to ourselves, my goal was the best,” Ronaldo told his 142 million Instagram followers on Thursday.

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah was awarded the Puskas Award for his strike against Everton in the English Premier League (EPL).

I’m not disappointed, life is like that,” added Ronaldo. “Sometimes you win and others lose, what interests me is that in 15 years of career I managed to maintain the same levels of performance.”

The 33-year-old also lost out to his former club teammate Luka Modric for the Best Player of the Year award.

“Awards are awards…” I already have a lot. I play to win and not to win awards.”

“Congratulations to everyone, to Modric, the best player of the year according to FIFA.”

Ronaldo has had a slow start to his time at the Serie A club Juventus. He has so far scored thrice and assisted another couple.
