Serie A: Cristiano Ronaldo scores for Juventus in their tenth successive win

An under-fire Cristiano Ronaldo, following allegations of rape fired for Juventus as the Italian giants cruised to their tenth win in a row in all competitions as they strolled past Udinese 2-0 in the Serie A on Saturday.

Rodrigo Bentancur netted in the first goal in the 34th minute after which the Portuguese star doubled the lead with a cross from Croatian forward Mario Mandzukic. It was his fourth goal of the season as the star forward showed no signs of the pressure by the off-field incidents in his life.

Bentancur scored his first goal since joining Juventus last season.

From a technical point of view, this was one of our best matches, creating a lot and giving away very little,” Massimiliano Allegri, Juventus’ head coach, as quoted by Reuters, said.

“It’s the first time this season we have gone two matches without conceding a goal and that’s positive. Today, we passed the ball around very well (and) faster,” he added.

The first half was completely dominated by the Turin club and they scored the opener through a counter-attack when Bentancur headed in an accurate cross from Portugal’s Joao Cancelo.

Mandzukic, just four minutes later, set up Ronaldo for the second when he got a loose ball in the penalty area and had it passed to the star forward, who put into the net with ease.

For the hosts, Antonin Barak hit the post while Kevin Lasagna ‘s shot was cleared before the break. Other than these two moments of brilliance for the hosts, it was a game that the defending Italian champions dominated. There could have been more goals for Juventus but efforts from Ronaldo and Federico Bernareschi were denied by Udinese custodian Simone Scuffet.

Elsewhere, it was Roma who defeated Empoli 2-0. Cagliari, riding on two crosses from Lucas Castro clinched their first win at home this season as they defeated Bologna 2-0. Torino hosting Frosinone, defeated them 3-2 in a high scoring affair.
