Arjun Tendulkar was spotted bowling to skipper Virat Kohli ahead of India’s second Test match against England at Lord’s. The budding cricketer who was a part of the Indian U-19 squad during the tour to Sri Lanka could be seen at the Indian nets on Wednesday, bowling to Kohli and Murali Vijay under the watchful eyes of head coach Ravi Shastri.

Arjun, who spends most of his time at the Lord’s cricket ground is a left-arm orthodox and was probably called up to the nets to help the Indian team combat the 20-year-old Sam Curran, who blasted the Indian top order in the first innings of the opening Test. The latest England bowling sensation ripped apart the entire top three within the space of eight balls and also got the crucial wicket of Hardik Pandya, to become the youngest England bowler to a four-wicket haul in Test cricket.

Since the current Indian team does not have any left-arm pacer, it made sense that Arjun was called up to help them out.

This is however not the first time, Arjun is bowling at the Indian batsmen. In December 2017, he was seen at the Wankhede Stadium practicing with the senior Indian team ahead of their Test match against New Zealand.

Meanwhile, India suffered a narrow 31-run defeat in the opening Test at Edgbaston after a batting collapse in both the innings. Kohli was the only batsmen to cross the 50 run mark in both the innings, while the rest couldn’t even make 35 runs. The Indian captain made a brilliant 149 in the opening essay and followed it up with another 51 runs.

The bowling was, however up to the mark and took all the 20 English wickets. They bundled England for 287 and 180 in both the innings.

With the wicket dry, Kohli at the pre-match conference said that there were chances of India fielding two spinners in the match.
