England face a newborn Australian ODI side

Australia and England begin the 5 match ODI series today at Kennington Oval. England had a shocking outing against Scotland in a 6 run defeat whereas Australia look to amalgamate a new set of players after being struck by punishments and injuries.

Meanwhile England will miss services of Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes who are out with injuries. Amidst news of teams being reduced due to respective problems this series promises to be an indistinguishable affair with both sides trying to resurrect their positions.

The World No.1 ODI England team still have slight upper hand in the series as they boast of a strong batting line up that almost chased down a huge target of 371 against Scotland. Jonny Bairstow sparkled in the chase with a 3rd consecutive ton but perished just after getting the milestone.

Tim Paine and his side will begin a fresh campaign in the absence of Steve Smith, David Warner, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazelwood. It’s quite important for experienced players like Aaron Finch, Glenn Maxwell and Shaun Marsh to step up and lead from the front.

There is a possibility of showers in the evening. These overcast conditions could result in swing bowling coming into good effect. Kennington Oval usually produces high scoring matches and it will be interesting to see how batsman fare if the conditions are suitable for bowling.
