20 years after delivering blockbuster hit Gadar. Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel are reuniting for the sequel of the iconic period drama. The movie will be helmed once again by director Anil Sharma. It will also feature Utkarsh Sharma in the lead role alongside Deol.
On Friday, on the occasion of Dussehra, Sunny Deol took to Instagram to announce Gadar 2. He wrote, “After two decades the wait is finally over! On the auspicious day of Dusshera, Presenting to you the motion poster of #Gadar2. The Katha Continues…,” while tagging his team.

Ameesha Patel, who was acclaimed for her performance as Sakeena, also posted, “Announcing the biggest ever sequel in Indian cinema. Presenting to you the motion poster of #Gadar2.”
Gadar 2 will be produced by Zee Studios and Anil Sharma Productions, directed by Anil Sharma, and written by Shaktimaan. The film casts Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma. Music Composed by Mithoon. The movie will go on floors soon. It is set to release in 2022.
Gadar was released on June 15, 2001. The story of the film was set during the Partition of India in 1947. It followed the story of Tara Singh(Deol) a truck driver in pre-Independence India. How he saves a Muslim girl Sakina(Patel) during the bloody Partition and falls in love. The movie was all about their love separation and reunion. It also featured late actor Amrish Puri, Vivek Shauq, Lillete Dubey in pivotal roles.
