Gangubai Kathiawadi: SLB is willing to wait to release Alia Bhatt starrer in theaters

Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi is one of the highly anticipated films from Bollywood. The cast and the crew had to face several challenges to complete the shootings in the midst of the pandemic Coronavirus outspread.  Reportedly, the crew is currently doing the post production and working on the execution part. According to the latest reports, director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is willing to wait for the theaters to reopen in order to release his film on big screens only. The makers apparently don’t have any plans of releasing it on OTT platforms.

A source close to the development informed Bollywood Hungama, “SLB is immensely pleased with the end-result. He feels Gangubai Kathiawadi is his biggest and best film to date in terms of the scale and size of the visuals and emotions. These cannot be relocated to the OTT platform at any cost.”

The source also further informs that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is willing to wait, no matter how long the pandemic outspread continues to stay. Owing to the peaking COVID-19 cases, the state governments had to impose lockdowns and theaters across India suffered massive losses.

For the unversed, Bhansali has also been busy working on his OTT project. The web series is titled, Heera Mandi and reportedly its currently in the pre-production stage. The project will be premiered on Netflix and reportedly features Kartik Aaryan and Sonakshi Sinha in the key roles. This would mark the digital debut for the lead actors as well as the filmmaker.
