Australian pace legend Glenn McGrath believes that English bowler James Anderson would run away with the accolades once he achieves the distinction of becoming the all-time highest wicket-taker for pacers in the history of Test cricket.
Anderson currently has 557 Test wickets to his name which is just six short of McGrath’s record of 563 wickets.
“Jimmy Anderson deserves everything he gets, and even though he is an Englishman I will be delighted for him when he goes past my record and becomes the most prolific fast bowler in Test history,” wrote McGrath in the Daily Mail newspaper quoted NDTV.

“I have an awful lot of respect for Jimmy. Good luck to him. I believe once he goes past me he will never be beaten. Records are nice and I’ve been very proud to have taken more wickets than any fast bowler in Test history, but any high is there to be beaten, and I will be equally proud of Jimmy when he goes past me because the fast bowlers’ union has to stick together, whichever country we come from,” added McGrath, who retired from Test cricket in 2007.
The 36-year old Anderson has won 141 Test caps for England since making his debut in 2003. In the overall list of all-time highest wicket-takers, spinners occupy the top three spots in the form of Muttiah Muralidharan (800 wickets), Shane Warne (708 wickets) and Anil Kumble (619 wickets). McGrath follows them at the fourth position.
