Janhvi Kapoor’s upcoming film, titled, ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’ to set to release on August 12, 2020, on Netflix. Earlier, the film was supposed to release in the theatre, however, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the makers decided to release the film on Netflix.
The actress took to her social media, to announce the release date of the film, she captioned, “Proud to bring to you the story of India’s first woman Air Force Officer to go to war. A journey that I hope will inspire you the way that it has inspired me. 🤞🏻GunjanSaxena – The Kargil Girl is landing on 12th August to your #Netflix screens!

‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’ is based on the life of Indian Air Force pilot Gunjan Saxena. She, along with Srividya Rajan, was the first Indian women fighter pilots to go into the warzone. The pilots rescued soldiers during the Kargil War in 1999. Moreover, Gunjan was honored with the Shaurya Vir award for her courage during the war.
Apart from Janhvi Kapoor, the movie also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Ayesha Raza Angad Bedi, Manav Vij, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Ayesha Raza among others, directed by Sharan Sharma and produced under Dharma Productions and Zee Studios.
Earlier,‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’ was scheduled to release theatrically on 13 March 2020. However, that release postponed to 24 April 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic. On June 9, Netflix released a teaser video introducing Gujan Saxena.
