ITR Filing Extension: Indian Government Extended Income Tax Returns Filing Date To January 10

On Wednesday i.e. January 30, government made the announcement of extended date for the filing income tax returns to January 10 from December 31, 2020, for all the individual tax payer. The dates for filing tax returns by the companies was extended to February 15, 2021. This big development commenced due to the uncertainty amidst the pandemic Coronavirus outspread.

The due date for the furnishing of Income Tax Returns for the taxpayers of international/specified domestic transactions has been further extended. The Income Tax Department took its official Twitter handle and shared the update. “In view of the continued challenges faced by taxpayers in meeting statutory compliances due to outbreak of COVID-19, the Govt further extends the dates for various compliances. Press release on extension of time limits issued today,” read the Tweet post alongside an official statement.
