Bollywood lost many legendary actors this year, whose void is impossible to be filled. Fans and friends were devasted by the shocking demise of actors Rishi Kapoor, Irrfan Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput. Irrfan Khan passed away on April 29 after a two-year battle with neuroendocrine tumour. Rishi Kapoor too lost his battle with cancer a day later. Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai home on June 14. Now Indian Film Festival Melbourne is all set to honour the actors.
As a part of IFFM’s tribute section, the Indian Film Festival Melbourne will be screening Irrfan’s ‘Song of Scorpion’, Rishi’s ‘102 Not Out’ and Sushant’s ‘Kedarnath’ this year.
Talking about the same, Australian-Indian filmmaker Mitu Bhowmick Lange said in a statement, “Artistes live on through their legacy. These were some fine men who did some incredible movies that resonated with everyone. It was important for us to celebrate their memory. We handpicked some great films for our audience so that we relive a few of their lives with them. Their loss to the film industry is irrevocable but the magic of their movies will continue to entertain generations hereafter.”
Irrfan Khan’s The Song of Scorpions is a Swiss-French-Singaporean Rajasthani language drama released in 2017. It was premiered at the 70th Locarno Film Festival. The film is directed by Anup Singh and produced by Saskia Vischer, Shahaf Peled and Michel Merkt. It also featured Golshifteh Farahani in pivotal role.
Rishi’s 102 Not Out also starred Amitabh Bachchan. Sushant’s Kedarnath directed by Abhishek Kapoor marked the debut of Sara Ali Khan.
