Coronavirus Outbreak: Fourth COVID-19 linked death reported in India

Yet another Coronavirus death has been reported in India taking its tally to fourth. According to reports, Coronvirus’ fourth death was reported in Punjab while the previous deaths were reported in Delhi, Karnataka, Punjab and Maharashtra.

The total number of positive cases of COVID-19 in India stands at 173.  The latest Indian who died owing to COVID-19 In India was a 70-year-old man who reportedly returned from Germany via Italy a fortnight ago and died in hospital after severe chest pain.

The 70-year old man died at a civil hospital in Banga in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur on March 18, 2020. His village and area of up to a 3 km radius around it has reportedly been sealed. A government doctor who treated him has been quarantined.

His relatives and close friends have also been quarantined and his house has been sealed since yesterday.

According to the ministry, the number of novel coronavirus cases in India has climbed to 173. The cases include 25 foreign nationals — 17 belonging to Italy, three from the Philippines, two from the UK, one each from Canada, Indonesia and Singapore.

The financial capital (Delhi) reported to have 12 Coronvirus positive cases including one foreigner, while Uttar Pradesh has recorded 19 cases, including one foreigner. Talking about Maharashtra, it has 47 cases, including three foreigners, while Kerala has recorded 27 cases which include two foreigners. 

Karnataka has 14 coronavirus patients. The number of cases in Ladakh rose to eight and Jammu and Kashmir four. Telangana has reported six cases which include two foreigners.

Rajasthan has also reported seven cases which include two foreigners. Tamil Nadu and Punjab have two cases as of now. Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Puducherry and Chandigarh have reported one case each. In Haryana, there are 17 cases including 14 foreign nationals.
