When Irrfan Khan bribed Rishi Kapoor to spend a night in desert while filming D-Day

Bollywood is dealing with the loss of two legends, Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor. The two left for their heavenly abode within a day of each other. Rishiji and Irrfan Khan have left a void that is impossible to be filled. But he talented duo have left us with so many memories from their past. One of the memorable moment was shared by D-Day’ director Nikhil Advani.

In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Advani recalled how Irrfan tricked Rishi Kapoor into staying in a desert for the scene they were shooting in Kutch by bribing him with ‘chicken and alcohol’.

Advani said, “Today, a scene from my 2013 film, D-Day, flashes through my mind. We were shooting in the desert and while Irrfan and a lot of team bunked out in tents, Chintuji would drive two hours back to the hotel. He was averse to early morning shoots but there was this sunrise shot we had to shoot with him and he was refusing to comply, saying, ‘I’m an actor, not a doodhwala. Irrfan finally managed to convince him to spend the night in the desert with us with the promise of Chicken Jungli and alcohol. It was a near-impossible feat in Kutch, but he delivered on his promise and I got my shot.

D-Day was the only film where Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan Khan had shared screen space.
