Joe Root can be world’s best, Jos Buttler will make a good Test captain: Shane Warne

Former spinner Shane Warne said that Joe Root is on his way towards becoming the best batsman if he replaced by Buttler as the captain.

Legendary Australian spinner Shane Warne said that England should help skipper Joe Root on his way towards becoming the best batsman in the world by replacing him with Is Buttler as the captain and letting him focus purely on his batting.
Warne felt that Root has the tools to become the best in the world and wicket-keeper batsman Buttler would also be an “excellent captain” in Test cricket.
Having worked with Buttler at Indian Premier League franchise Rajasthan Royals, Warne knows a thing or two about the Englishman who, he feels has it into him to lead a side.
“I’ve worked with Jos a bit this year, and I think he’s someone who would make an excellent captain,” Warne, as quoted by AFP said.
He added, “I really enjoyed working with him, I’d like to think I helped him out a little bit.”
The Aussie great added that Root might be unhappy with his conversion rates when it came to hundreds while adding that he is England’s best player.
He’d love to have more hundreds to be able to be spoken about in the same sentences as Virat Kohli and Steve Smith,” opined the former leg-spinner, who is promoting his autobiography.
“Maybe England could think about their best player having the shackles off, not having the responsibility of captaincy, and give it to someone like Jos Buttler,
“If he (Root) totally 100 percent concentrates on his cricket, his batting and nothing else, then maybe we might see Joe Root become the best batsman in the world…He’s got the talent to do it,” further added Warne.
