Kangana Ranaut, Rangoli Chandel file petition in HC to quash Mumbai Police’s FIR against them

On Monday, Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel have filed a petition in the Bombay High Court, to quash Mumbai Police’s FIR against them. An FIR was filed against them over their “objectionable comments” on social media that directed at spreading communal tension, reportedly, Mumbai Police summoned the sibling duo for the third time to record their statements.

Their advocate Rizwan Siddiquee told PTI, “Kangana and Rangoli have filed a petition in the Bombay High Court for quashing of the FIR and the magistrates order.”

In the petition, he also said the court to stay the summons issued against the siblings asking them to appear before the police for interrogation, and also directed the police to not take any coercive steps against them.

Earlier, the Mumbai Police had called Kangana and Rangoli to be present on October 26 and 27 but they failed to appear. Later,  the police had summoned the duo yet again for questioning on November 10 in link with the case. However, the Panga actress had informed police that she was busy with a wedding in the family and will be accessible after 15 November.

According to the reports, the Mumbai Police have registered the complaint against the Kangana and Rangoli under IPC sections 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race), 295-A (deliberate acts hurting religious sentiments) and 124-A (sedition), 34 (common intention).
