Post the violent clash at the Galwan Valley, Indian citizen were seen boycotting Chinese products. After the government of India imposed a complete ban on a list of Chinese applications, the country now buys Indian rice for the first time in at least last three decades.
Indian market is known as one of the biggest exporter of rice among all the market in the world. China on the other side is a biggest importer. Apparently, Beijing imports around 4 million tonnes of rice annually, but it had avoided the purchases from India stating quality issues since last three decades. Amidst the political tension between both the countries, China now buys rice from India for the first time in long years.
President of the Rice Exporters Association, B.V. Krishna Rao as per the media reports stated, “For the first time China has made rice purchases. They may increase buying next year after seeing the quality of Indian crop.”
Reportedly, Indian rice traders have contracted to export 100,000 tonnes of broken rice for the month of December-February shipments at around $300 per tonne. China’s traditional suppliers such as Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar and Pakistan apparently have limited supplies.
Due to the pandemic Coronavirus crises, PM Narendra Modi introduced the Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign. The campaign aims at pushing local brand in Indian market, which can support Indian economy.
