Maharashtra Lockdown: Timings for shops to remain open expected for extension

Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Telangana, West Bengal including many other states have been following lockdowns owing to the surge of the second wave of Coronavirus. The timings for the shops to remain opened is likely to be extended in MAHA according to the latest reports. With a dim in the COVID-19 cases, the state government is reportedly working on a plan to allow shop owners to extend their working timings.

According to the media reports, there are around 20 districts in Maharashtra which currently have over 10 per cent of the positivity rates. And thus the government would not relax the COVID-19 norms in these districts. However, regions which have shown significant decline in the COVID-19 cases are likely to be allowed to re-open the shops of services from June 1. It is expected that the shop owners will be allowed to keep their shops open for few more hours. There is no official announcement on the same and an official confirmation is still awaited.

As of now, all the shops selling goods classified as essential can remain open from 7 am to 11 am. These hours for the essential service shops might be increased in the new guidelines. Also, the state government is likely to increase the attendance on the government officials from the next month. Currently only 15 per cent employees allowed in the public office.
