‘Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya’ actor Anupam Shyam passes away at 63

In an unfortunate turn of events, Anupam Shyam best known for his role as Thakur Sajjan Singh in the television show, ‘Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya’ passes away on 8th August after battling multiple organ failures. He was 63. The actor was hospitalized in the critical care unit of a hospital in Goregaon seven days ago and he has been suffering from kidney disease for the past one-and-a-half years.

Anupam Shyam’s younger brother Anurag told SpotBoye: “He is breathing but doctors have lost hope. Today is his sixth day of being admitted in the Goregaon hospital.”

President of the Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association Ashoke Pandit shared the unfortunate news and tweeted as: “Sad to know about the demise of one of the finest actors & a great human being #AnupamShyam due to multiple organ failure .My heartfelt condolences to his family . A great loss to the film & tv industry . ॐ शान्ति ! 🙏”

Anupam Shyam has worked in films like Lajja, Nayak, Dubai Return, Parzania, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi (2005), Shakti: The Power, Bandit Queen, in the internationally acclaimed movie Slumdog Millionaire (2008) and acted in numerous international films set in India.

He is a native of Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh, and an alumnus of Bhartendu Academy of Dramatic Arts, Lucknow, where he studied from 1983 to 1985. He also supported Anna Hazare’s movement held on 27 December 2011
