Micron & Qualcomm To Work On 5G Automotive Platform For Next-Gen Vehicles

Micron leader in memory and storage solution announced working with Qualcomm Technologies to enable advance automotive connectivity solution powered by a 5G network. Based on the upcoming high-speed network bandwidth, the platform will boost autonomous driving and a direct cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) communication.

New Qualcomm Snapdragon Automotive 5G Platform features a custom Micron 149 ball count multichip package, designed to deliver 20x faster speed than current LTE-Advanced modems. High-speed connectivity means will assist vehicles to communicate and connect with different devices, vehicles, etc.

Qualcomm Snapdragon Automotive 5G Platform with integrated C-V2X direct communication technology will deliver low latency, high data speed, and reliable cellular connection. Ideally designed for the next-generation driver-less car, the platform will serve as an important aspect to deliver the highest possible accuracy for vehicles to stay on the road.

“5G technology will drive further innovation in connected vehicles and deliver advanced functionality that is necessary for next-generation vehicles,” said Kris Baxter, vice president of marketing for Micron’s Embedded Business Unit. “Integrating Micron’s multichip package with the Snapdragon Automotive 5G Platform will accelerate the push toward digitally enabled transportation solutions that enhance reliability and safety.”
