MS Dhoni likely to play for Jharkhand in Vijay Hazare Trophy quarter-finals

MS Dhoni has been dropped from India's T20I squads for the series against West Indies and Australia, Rohit Sharma will lead with Virat Kohli rested.

MS Dhoni is very likely to turn out for Jharkhand in the quarter-finals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

After returning to the country from the Asia Cup where India won the final in a thrilling manner,  Dhoni has been training with his state’s team but hasn’t featured for them yet in the group league matches.

His batting in recent times has come under the cloud with his waning big-hitting powers despite his accuracy behind the stumps and his genius cricketing brain.

The former Indian skipper has just played 15 ODIs and 7 T20Is this year which means that he has been available for national duty in for 22 days and this shows that lack of game time he has got so far in 2018.

This situation has further been made more difficult by Dhoni’s way of managing his domestic calendar with both the state association and the national selectors being unaware of it.

Reports in the The Times of India have stated that the 2011 World Cup winning skipper has been given the freedom to pick and choose the limited overs’ matches he wants to play for his state.

A day ago, it was also learnt that India’s limited overs’ vice-captain Rohit Sharma, who led the team to Asian Cup glory last month would play in the national one-day competition for Mumbai.

Bengaluru would host of all the knockout matches.
