Navi Mumbai: Traffic Police constable dies in road accident, No arrest yet

A 30-year-old traffic Police constable on Wednesday died when he was run over by a vehicle in Taloja area in New Mumbai, it is hardly 50 km away from Mumbai.

According to the police official, the incident took place at Nitalsar Phata (diversion) when the traffic constable Atul Gagare was returning to the beat outpost after clearing a traffic congestion at around 5 am in the morning.

The incident was reported by some auto drivers to the Taloja traffic police.  Atul Gagare was taken to a government-run hospital in rural Panvel where he was declared brought dead. The Police are yet to identify the vehicle that mowed down the traffic constable Atul Gagare.

The Police has registered a case against an unidentified person.
