No Mayank Agarwal for the second Test match against West Indies

Mayank Agarwal, called up to the Test team for the first time, has to wait more for his debut as India retained the playing XI for the second Test

The sound victory by an innings and 272 runs in the first Test match over the West Indies at the Saurashtra Cricket Stadium has propelled the management to retain the same playing XI for the second Test match as well, which is scheduled to begin on October 12 in Hyderabad.

This means that Mayank Agarwal, who was given a maiden call-up to the Test side–for his exploits with the bat in domestic cricket–would have to wait for some more time to get a taste of international cricket.

Expectedly, teenage sensation Prithvi Shaw who scored a stylish hundred on debut in Rajkot has been retained to open the innings. The team management has also put their weight behind KL Rahul, who fell for a duck.

Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane has been retained in the side. There is no change in the bowling department with Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav handing the fast bowling department while the spin trio of Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja would look to continue with their exploits.

Squad: Virat Kohli (c), KL Rahul, Prithvi Shaw, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Shami, Umesh Yadav, Shardul Thakur.
