On Cloud Nine: 9 prominent engineer-turned-actors

Our Bollywood actors are magical when it comes to being on-screen but most of them have had a backup career as an option. We have some of them who are all armed with an engineering degree from some prestigious colleges just in case if their luck didn’t get along with their dreams.

Kartik Aaryan: He was born and brought up in Gwalior but he moved to Navi Mumbai to pursue an Engineering degree in Biotechnology. Later, he enrolled for an acting course without telling his parents about it.  He debuted in Bollywood in 2013 with Aakash Vani and rose to fame with Pyaar Ka Punchnama series.

Kriti Sanon: Kriti Sanon was brought up in Delhi and  has an Engineering degree in Electronics and Communication from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology. She is now a popular actress  and has even won a Filmfare award for the Best Female Debut.

Fawad Khan: Before he made it big in Bollywood, Fawad Khan is a software engineer.  He was studying Computer Engineering at the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences in Lahore. Fawad made his debut in Bollywood with the lead role in a romantic comedy Khoobsurat in 2014.

Vicky Kaushal: The Raazi actor has an engineering degree in Electronics and Telecommunications. He graduated in the year 2009 from Mumbai’s Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology. He is now one of the most loved actors in Bollywood.

Taapsee Pannu: Manmarziyaan actress Taapsee Pannu is a beauty with brains.  She has done Computer Science Engineering from New Delhi’s Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology and also worked as a software engineer.

Sushant Singh Rajput: The Kai Po Che scored the 7th position in the AIEEE exam. The actor studied Mechanical Engineering at the Delhi College Of Engineering, which he dropped after 3 years to start his acting career.

Riteish Deshmukh: The actor earned an architectural degree from Kamla Raheja College of Architecture, Mumbai. Ritiesh Deshmukh gained popularity with movies like Heyy Babyy, Dhamaal, Housefull and more.

R Madhavan: He took our hearts away in Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein. He graduated in Electronics Engineering from Rajaram College in Kolhapur.

Sonu Sood: He has worked in Hindi, Telugu, Punjabi, Tamil and Kannada movies. He graduated from the Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering in Nagpur. Sonu made his Bollywood debut in 2001 with the role of Bhagat Singh.
