Left-arm pacer Trent Boult took apart the Sri Lankan batting single-handedly as he snared six wickets in just 15 balls to have the visitors bowled out for 104 on the second day of the second Test in Christchurch on Thursday.

The Kiwis, riding on this unbelievable piece of brilliance thus were handed a lead of 74 runs in the first innings.

The visitors, who had staged a dramatic comeback in the first Test match, having played the catching-up game for most of the time, started proceedings on the second day on 88/4.

However, they were completely blown away by Boult’s brilliance. The left-armer dismissed Silva, having him caught at third slip when he was on 21.

Boult made further use of the reverse swing on offer and in his next over, he took three wickets without conceding a run. Wicket-keeper batsman Niroshan Dickwella could only manage four runs before he was caught in the slips and this was followed by both Dilruwan Perera and Suranga Lakmal departing without having any significant impact on the scoreboard.

Boult however wasn’t done there as he went on to dismiss Dushmantha Chameera and Lahiru Kumara in his next over. He thus ended the innings with sensational figures of 6/30 in 15 overs.
