‘Peaky Blinders’ actor Helen McCrory passes away at 52

Hollywood actor Helen McCrory who essayed the role of Polly Gray, the matriarch of the Shelby clan in the British period crime drama television series ‘Peaky Blinders’ passed away at her residence in London, England on Friday after battling cancer. The news was confirmed by her husband and actor Damian Lewis.

Damian Lewis shared the news on his Twitter handle and wrote: “I’m heartbroken to announce that after a heroic battle with cancer, the beautiful and mighty woman that is Helen McCrory has died peacefully at home, surrounded by a wave of love from friends and family. She died as she lived. Fearlessly. God we love her and know how lucky we are to have had her in our lives. She blazed so b rightly. Go now, Little One, into the air, and thank you.”

Helen played memorable roles throughout her career, she portrayed Cherie Blair in both ‘The Queen’ (2006) and ‘The Special Relationship’ (2010). She also portrayed Françoise in the film ‘Charlotte Gray’ (2001), Narcissa Malfoy in the final three ‘Harry Potter’ films, Mama Jeanne in Martin Scorsese’s family film ‘Hugo’ (2011), Clair Dowar in the James Bond film ‘Skyfall’ (2012), Emma Banville in ‘Fearless’ (2017), and Kathryn Villiers in ‘MotherFatherSon’ (2019).
