Rahul Dravid, Ricky Ponting new installations at the 'Hall of Fame'

Rahul Dravid and Ricky Ponting have been inducted at the Hall of Fame as a result of their stupendous contribution to the game of cricket. Ricky Ponting became the 25th player from Australia to have achieved this feet whereas Rahul Dravid is only the fifth player to do so.

Former Indian captain Rahul Dravid made 13288 runs in 164 Tests that included 36 centuries . He also scored 10889 runs in 344 ODI’s with 12 centuries. The wall was named as the ICC Cricketer of the Year as well as the ICC Test Player of the Year in 2004. He played just one T20 for India but featured in a lot of IPL matches. Undoubtedly, he is one of the most brilliant slip fielder’s in the world. He clinched 210 catches, which is a world record. The Indian legend retired from Test cricket in the year 2012.

Ricky Ponting was named as the ICC Cricketer of the Year in 2006 and 2007 as well as the ICC Test Player of the Year in 2006. Ponting has won three ICC Cricket World Cup’s for Australia along with two ICC Champions trophies under his belt. The blistering knock against India in the 2003 World Cup Final is still afresh in minds of people. He also holds the record of captaining Australia in 26 successive unbeaten ICC Cricket World Cup matches from 2003 to 2011 before India took a fitting revenge to knock Australia out of the competition in 2011 World cup Quarter finals. He has also featured in 17 T20 Internationals for his country.

Dravid said, “to find your name in a list of all-time greats across generations is something one only dreams of while setting out on a cricket career.”

The former Australian skipper said, “I loved every moment of my journey as a player and am so very proud of the team and personal achievements along the way.”
