Rajinikanth Speaks Out On Sathankulam Deaths

South Superstar Rajinikanth took to Twitter to condemn the police custodial deaths at Sathankulam. The Darbar actor demanded that justice be done in the case and all the police officers involved face the consequences. He tweeted in Tamil saying, “Even after killing the father and son brutally, which was opposed by the entire humanity, the cops had the audacity to disrespect the Magistrate. I was shocked by the behavior of the cops. All involved should be punished.”

The Sathankulam custodial deaths of Jayaraj and Bennicks have caused massive outrage and Rajinikanth has also spoken to the family recently. In addition to Rajinikanth, Tamil cinema director G. Hari also expressed concern over the Tuticorin deaths. Moreover, he stated that he ‘regretted’ adorning the police in his action movies. He also stated that an incident like this should never occur again and those involved in the incident should be given the highest punishment.

“The excesses of a few personnel in the department has maligned the entire force. I really regret making five films glorifying the police,” he said in the statement.

G. Hari is renowned for his action-thriller movies and has given hits like ‘Singam’ and ‘Saamy’. The cop flicks have had successful sequels.

Makkal Needhi Maiam founder-president Kamal Haasan also sought justice for the victims. In a statement, he said while financial assistance announced by the government was appreciated, more needed to be done. He said that the government should not stop with just financial aid and all involved in the incident should be punished.
