Britain has got a new Prime Minister in Boris Johnson. He has been invited by the Queen to form his cabinet. His cabinet will have four ministers of South Asian descent. One of them being Rishi Sunak the son-in-law of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy.
Boris Johnson has officially become the new Prime Minister on Wednesday. After meeting the Queen at the Buckingham Palace he was invited by the 93-year-old monarch to form a government. The new PM Boris Johnson on Wednesday appointed Brexit supporter Priti Patel as the home secretary.
As per Reuters reports, Four ministers of South Asian descent have been appointed to the PM’s Cabinet. They are Chancellor of the Exchequer Sajid Javid, International Development Secretary Alok Sharma and Chief Secretary to the Treasury Rishi Sunak.
Rishi Sunak, Priti Patel and Alok Sharma are among the three Indian-origin ministers. Sunak is the son-in-law of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy.
Rishi Sunak the Oxford University and Stanford MBA graduate co-founded a 1-billion-pound global investment firm and specialised in investing in small British businesses. He entered the British Parliament in the 2015 general election.
The 55-year-old former foreign secretary and London Mayor laid out his vision as Prime Minister in his first speech on the steps of Downing Street. Mr Johnson is the first British PM to enter 10 Downing Street unaccompanied by his spouse.
