The ‘Sacred Games’ actor, Saif Ali Khan is known for mesmerising his fans with his stiller performances on silver screens. The actor in his recent interview calls out the Indian Award Shows and opens up that he once considered himself to be undeserving for a few awards including the National Award which he got for ‘Hum Tum’. The actor says that the awards shows are ‘big tamasha’.
While spilling the beans about the award shows and the behind the stage drama’s, Saif Ali Khan informed Bollywood Hungama, “Yes, I was seen to be undeserving of the few awards that I received earlier in my career, including the National award for Hum Tum. But I think over the years I’ve proven myself to be more worthy of recognition. To be honest, I don’t believe in them. Some years ago I was called for an awards function. When I got there someone higher up in the organization told me, ‘We wanted to give you the Best Actor award. But you know how it is. We’ll give you the award for Best Actor in a comic role.”
Saif further he says that the award functions are an excuse to make some money by performing on stage. He says that if you have the intelligence, then you would spend your money well and that’s what award shows are worth for. “After these awards shows have got the ‘commercial aspect’, it has turned into a ‘whole big tamasha’,” he said.
On the work fronts, Saif Ali Khan was last seen sharing the screen space with Sanjana Sanghi and Sushant Singh Rajput in ‘Dil Bechara’. He will be next seen in ‘Bunty Aur Bubli 2’, the film features Rani Mukerji, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh in the key roles.
