#MeToo: Sajid Khan’s behaviour was extremely obnoxious and sexist, says Dia Mirza

#MeToo: Bollywood actress Dia Mirza has said that she was aware of director Sajid Khan's “obnoxious and sexist” behaviour. Dia Mirza was deeply disturbed

The #MeToo social media campaign against sexual harassment does not seem to stop any time soon in India. Several big names have cropped up in the list of accused, leaving millions of people shocked in the country.

The #MeToo movement started in India from Tanushree Dutta, accusing Nana Patekar of sexual harassment on the sets of film ‘Horn Ok Pleassss’ in 2008. Recently, Bollywood actress Dia Mirza has called Bollywood filmmaker Sajid Khan obnoxious and extremely sexist.

Beside Sajid Khan, Alok Nath, Kailash Kher, Rajat Kapoor and Vikas Bahl are some of the other names called out over the last few days.

Four women, including a journalist, have accused Sajid Khan of sexual harassment and stepped down from his directorship on the upcoming film Housefull 4.

In an interview to a private channel, Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein actress Dia Mirza has said that she was ‘deeply disturbed’ reading the accounts and added, “I agree that Sajid was obnoxious, extremely sexist and ridiculous. Even for me, the details of these accounts are beyond shocking. I have personally always have had a radar for such people. I have never invested in a relationship with such people even in the workplace.”

“We often brush off certain kind of behaviour. But I wouldn’t have imagined that Sajid could be capable of doing this to a woman. I completely understand the shock people are feeling right now, but it would be unfair to say that the names that are coming out are shocking,” Dia Mira quoted by India Today as saying.

The IFTDA has issued Sajid Khan a show cause notice and sought his response over the alleged offensive behaviour. The filmmaker has been given a 7-day ultimatum to respond to IFTDA and send them an explanation.
