Oscar-winning musician Sam Smith says he ‘definately had’ coronavirus

Oscar-winning musician Sam Smith revealed that weeks before the lockdown was implemented in the United States, he and his sister were having symptoms for Coronavirus and went into self-isolation in his Los Angeles home.

Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Sam Smith said, “I didn’t get tested but I know I have it, 100% have it. I’m just going to assume that I did because everything I’ve read completely pointed to that. So yeah, I think I definitely had it. And then as soon as I had it, my sister five days after me started getting the same symptoms who’s living with me.”

The ‘Too Good at Goodbyes’ singer further said, “It was clear. Because I’ve got an older nan and stuff, so we didn’t want to risk anything. I got it about two weeks before the UK really hit. Well, I think I got it. I don’t 100 percent know, but I got it and then as everyone was kind of really on lockdown, that’s when I got over it, luckily.”

Sam Smith’s new album ‘To Die For’ was set to release on May 1, 2020, but the singer has postponed it in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, but last month the singer said that he will be announcing a new name for the album soon.

Talking to BBC he revealed the reason behind the change of the name, “My album had the word ”die” in the title, which I just felt really uncomfortable with, with what”s happening (coronavirus) and it”s so important for me to be sensitive to my fans and to people listening to my music,” the Oscar-winning singer said.
