Samsung’s First Foldable Smartphone Officially To Be Named ‘Galaxy Fold’

Ahead of Samsung Galaxy S10 official launch on February 21, the name of Samsung’s first foldable mobile phone has been leaked. According to tipster Evan Blass, Samsung’s first foldable smartphone to be named ‘Samsung Galaxy Fold’. The South Korean Tech Giant had earlier given us a glimpse of its foldable phone but they did not reveal any information about the same. But, now we have enough information about it now.

Prior to this leak, the name of the foldable phone had been a topic of the discussion as some calling it Galaxy Fold while other Galaxy F. However, putting all these speculations to rest, Evan Blass took to Twitter, and wrote the name of first ever foldable phone of the company, ‘Samsung Galaxy Fold’.

According to the leaked video, it should unfold to reveal two screens hidden inside. There will be one screen outside for usage when the phone is folded. It is rumoured to arrive under the price tag of around GBP 2,000 which roughly translate to Rs 1,82,000. This could also be the first 5G handset for the South Korean market.

According to earlier leaks, the cover panel of the foldable phone sports a 4.58-inch display, its inner foldable panel is said to be 7.3 inches in size. The smartphone is also reported to have a triple camera at the back such as Xioami’s Mi9 and Vivo V15 Pro. It also has a multi-active window which will make it easier to run multi-window simultaneously.

If anything to go by leaked information, it has been equipped with two batteries of 2,190mAh capacity each. The two individual batteries will grant the foldable device a net battery capacity of 4,380mAh.

A glimpse of the foldable phone was shown at the Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) in November 2018. At the event, Samsung said that its foldable smartphone form factor is based on an Infinity Flex Display panel.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Fold is likely to come with Snapdragon 855 SoC and paired with 8 GB RAM. The Galaxy Fold is expected to run on Android Pie with One UI layered on top and is rumoured to cost a small fortune.
