Malayalam actor Shaji Thilakan passed away at the age of 55 in Kochi. The actor was undergoing treatment for liver-related ailments. He is survived by his wife Indira Shaji and daughter Abhirami. Shaji was also an employee of Apollo Tyres and was active in the television world. The actor had played the role of villain in Mazhavil Manorama’s popular TV show titled Aniyathi and was appreciated for his performance.
Shaji acted in many television serials. His villain role in Aniyathi, a television series aired in Mazhavil Manorama, was well received.
Shaji lived in Chalakudy and was reportedly working in Apollo Tyres there. he was also the trade union leader for Apollo tyres in Chalakudy, Kerala.
Shaji was the son of Malayalam actor Thilakan who was considered as one of the biggest stars in the Malayalam film industry. Thilakan had featured in over 200 Malayalam films. Thilakan also earned the prestigious Padma Shri award in 2009 for his contribution to cinema. Shaji reportedly wished to follow his famous father’s footsteps.
