Sputnik vaccine to cost ₹995.40 per shot, expected to be low-priced in India

Sputnik V is a viral vector vaccine for COVID-19 developed by the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology. It is a Russian-made Coronavirus vaccine. On Friday, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories said that the vaccine will cost ₹995.40 per shot. Today, the first dose administered in Hyderabad.

The official Twitter handle of Sputnik V shared the news and wrote: “First doses of #SputnikV administered in India. On the picture Deepak Sapra, Global Head of Custom Pharma Services at @drreddys Laboratories is getting a shot of Sputnik V in Hyderabad. ✌️”

The first load of imported doses of the Sputnik V vaccine landed in India on May 1, after it was cleared for emergency use in India on April 13. Dr. Reddy’s said in a statement: “Further consignments of imported doses are expected over the upcoming months. Subsequently, supply of the Sputnik V vaccine will commence from Indian manufacturing partners.”

“I’m happy to say that we’re hopeful that it’ll be available in the market next week. We’re hopeful that the sale of the limited supply that has come from there (Russia), will begin next week, Its production will begin in July and it is estimated that 15.6 crore doses will be manufactured in that period,” Niti Aayog VK Paul.
