Sri Lankan Cricketer all-rounder Dhananjay de Silva’s father was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on the occasion of the national team’s departure to the West Indies on Friday.
Police said, “The player’s father Ranjan, a local politician, was murdered down in Ratmalana, Suburb of the capital Columbo, close to midnight on Thursday”.
The incident is being investigated but no arrests have been done so far.
The tour will also be missed by Dimuth Karunaratne, who fractured a finger while batting in the nets earlier this month as he prepared for a limited-overs domestic tournament.
