Sugandha Mishra, Sanket Bhosale booked for flouting COVID restrictions

On April 26, popular comedians Sugandha Mishra and Sanket Bhosale tied the knot amid the Coronavirus pandemic. The couple has been sharing pictures and videos from their wedding on social media. On Wednesday, an FIR has been filed against the newly married couple for flouting COVID restrictions at their wedding in Jalandhar, Punjab.

According to a report in Dainik Bhaskar, the case was registered on Wednesday night against Sugandha, the bridegroom’s side, the owner of the resort, and participants of the marriage after a video from their wedding went viral on the internet which showed a large gathering of people which violates the COVID-19 norms, Deputy Superintendent of Police Paramjit Singh said.  The ceremony took place at Club Cabana Resort in Phagwara.

Sugandha and Sanket have been booked under Disaster Management Act and under section 188 of IPC for violating the official orders. No arrest has yet been made. Currently, an investigation is going on.

According to the FIR, more than 100 people were gathered at the couple’s wedding ceremony, which was said to be a private and low-key affair. According to the Punjab government’s guidelines, a wedding should not have more than 40 guests.
