Popular South superstar Suriya has come out in support of students against NEET. He has issued a statement strongly condemning the NEET exams and also asked people to do the same. The actor has also criticized the Court of law and the lawmakers for opting for video conferencing but directing the students to attend the exams in person.
Three NEET aspirants in Tamil Nadu died by suicide on Saturday, a day before attempting the common entrance test, due to fear and stress. Reacting to this, Suriya urged the government to scrap NEET permanently.
Suriya further said the suicide of three NEET aspirants, on a single day has left him shattered. While commenting on the recent student suicides in Tamil Nadu over fear due to NEET, the popular actor even criticized the court for allowing the examination to be conducted amid a raging pandemic. “Fearing threat to lives due to Covid-19, judges were dispensing justice via video conferencing, but ordered students to write NEET exam without fear.”

He said that Suriya’s statement would warrant contempt proceedings since it has criticized the judicial system of the country.

Political parties in Tamil Nadu have been opposing NEET. They have been demanding the Govt to scrap the exams this year. Several other state governments to have been doing the same. But the court rejected their plea.
