Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah Courts Trouble After Calling Hindi The Most Common Language Of Mumbai

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has landed into trouble with the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena(MNS). In a recent episode, Champaklal Gada (Amit Bhatt) said that Hindi was the most common language of Mumbai. This hasn’t gone down well with MNS or party chief Raj Thackeray. Ameya Khopkar, who is the president of the cinema wing of MNS, took to Twitter to demand an apology from the makers of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.

Since then, producer Asit Kumarr Modi and Amit Bhatt have both released statements addressing the issue. In addition, the official Twitter handle of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah also issued an apology for hurting the sentiments. They wrote, “The only thing we believe in spreading is love and happiness! We apologize if we have hurted any sentiments through our show. We believe in unity in diversity & respect for each and every religion and its mother tongue. Keep smiling & keep watching #TMKOC! @AsitKumarrModi @sabtv.”

Asit Kumar tweeted a post where he said that Marathi was indeed the official language of Mumbai. He also said he respected all languages. He also shared a video of Shailesh Lodha, who plays Tarak Mehta, clarifying Champaklal’s statement.

Amit Bhatt, who plays the character of Champak Chacha, also wrote an apology letter to the party’s chief Raj Thackeray. He wrote that “while portraying a character I perform whatever is demanded by the scriptwriters. I personally respect Marathi language and I am proud of it. I wholeheartedly apologize for the mistake”.
